Albert Edelfelt

Albert Edelfelt, 1854-1905, a Swedish-speaking Finnish painter, Academician. Born in in Porvoo, Finland, from a wealthy family. His father is a architect.
He had received formal fine art education in several countries, in Antwerp (1873–1874), Paris (1874–1878) and Saint Petersburg (1881–1882)

Edelfelt not only get great reputation in his own country, but also the first Finnish artists gain international reputation. He get great success in Paris art community and was one of the founders of the Realist art movement in Finland. Quite many younger Finnish artist under his influence and also he helped fellow Finnish artists such as Akseli Gallen-Kallela to make their breakthrough in Paris. Among them, the most outstanding one Leon Bakst.

Edelfelt nicht nur sehr guten Ruf im eigenen Land, sondern auch die ersten finnischen Künstlern zu gewinnen internationalen Ruf. Hat er großen Erfolg in Paris Kunst-Community und war einer der Gründer der Realist Kunstbewegung in Finnland. Ganz viele jüngere finnische Künstlerin unter seinem Einfluss und auch half er anderen finnischen Künstlern wie Akseli Gallen-Kallela den Durchbruch in Paris machen.
